Imagine...an interconnected group of people who entrust themselves to each other. You can speak of your pain, and someone responds with compassion and prayer. You can speak of your joys, and someone rejoices with you. You can ask for help with sinful struggles, and someone prays with you. The goal of this audiobook is that these meaningful relationships will become a natural part of daily life in your church.Â
With short chapters and discussion questions meant to be listened to in a group setting, Ed Welch guides small groups through eight lessons that show what it looks like when ordinary, needy people care for other ordinary, needy people in everyday life.

"Caring for One Another is a good pocket tool for brothers and sisters to practice knowing Christ, knowing each other, and knowing and fighting sin. It would be helpful to go through as a small group or a small “DNA†group setting. This is best used in community as you care for one another."

- An excellent, thoughtful, helpful book! There is a ton of practical wisdom crammed into this tiny book! Written for small groups, I found this Immensely helpful even reading on my own!
- This is a great Resource to read as a group. Reading ahead is beneficial but for those who don’t do well with that it is still great for discussion. Very helpful for small groups.

- Nice way to get a small group started. It’s helpful that the book says everyone should read each chapter together.
- Great book. Easy read and helpful.
- Love it!
- Three years ago, Ed Welch wrote Side by Side Walking with Others in Wisdom and Love, which at that time was one of the best introductions to relational ministry.
Caring for One Another, also by Ed Welch, has similar content but in only half the pages! It's a speedy introduction to practical steps on building Christian community. It's a bite-size snack compared to the full meal of Side by Side. I recommend it for the busy pastor or small group leader.
Note Crossway provided me with a complimentary free ebook copy in exchange for an honest review, as part of their Blog Review Program. Thanks Crossway! - Caring for One Another 8 Ways to Cultivate Meaningful Relationships by Ed Welch is a new release from Crossway that aims to help churches grow in their love and care for one another. As Welch states, "our calling is to care for each other's souls. We want to bring our struggles to the Lord and to each other so that the church can be strengthened and the world can witness wisdom and love." To aid churches in this Welch has provided 8 short lessons that are meant to be read out loud in a group and then discussed. The goal of these lessons is to "further shape the culture of your church so that counseling and mutual care of souls become natural features of the body's everyday life."
The 8 lessons in Caring for One Another are
With All Humility
More Toward Others
Know the Heart
Know the Critical Influences
Be Personal and Pray
Talk About Suffering
Talk About Sin
Remember and Reflect
Caring for One Another would be an excellent resource to read together in small groups within the church and then follow up with talking through the discussion questions provided. The aim is to grow relationships within the church and these types of group settings and discussion would certainly move a church toward that goal.
I received a digital copy of this book from Crossway in exchange for an honest review.
